The European Accessibility Act in brief
A few general pointers, taken from the EU text (Directive 2019/882), for information only:
- •In force since June 28, 2025 for certain services provided to consumers
- •Services covered: including e-commerce, consumer banking services, e-books and passenger transport (air, rail, bus and waterborne), mobile apps included
- •Microenterprises providing services are exempt (fewer than 10 employees and an annual turnover or balance sheet total not exceeding €2 million)
- •The text also requires public information on how the service meets the accessibility requirements
- •The most widely used technical standard is the European standard EN 301 549, which incorporates the international WCAG 2.1 criteria (level AA) and adds requirements specific to apps

Each issue is explained simply, ranked by priority, with the fix to apply and an estimate of the work. A report you can share with your management.
Step 4
We fix it, if you want
You can hand the fixes to your team or to us. If your app is built with React Native or Capacitor, that is our specialty: we give you a firm fixed price.

- •Screen readers: can your app be used with VoiceOver (iPhone) and TalkBack (Android)? Do buttons and images have meaningful labels?
- •Larger text: does the app stay readable when users increase the text size in their phone settings?
- •Contrast and color: is the text readable enough? Is any information conveyed by color alone?
- •Navigation without the touchscreen: external keyboard and logical navigation order
- •Forms and payment: clearly labeled fields, clear error messages, a checkout flow usable from start to finish
- •Touch target size, animations, time limits and video content

Is my mobile app covered by the European Accessibility Act?
Only your legal department or advisor can confirm this. For information, the European Accessibility Act (European directive 2019/882), applicable since June 28, 2025, covers in particular e-commerce, consumer banking services, e-books and certain passenger transport services, mobile apps included, with an exemption for microenterprises providing services. Do small businesses have to make their app accessible?
The European directive provides an exemption for microenterprises providing services: fewer than 10 employees and an annual turnover or balance sheet total not exceeding €2 million. If you hand the fixes over to GUIGUI Tech, the €1,500 excl. VAT audit fee is deducted from the fixed price if you confirm within 30 days.
